It’s Just Beautiful A Woman Holds Her Breast When Running, But That Doesn’t Mean It’s Going To Fall Off

Kente is now internationally known and often used by African-Americans

The slice of Ghanaian culture presented in Kente cloth by a pretty woman

The diversity of culture is very interesting and broad subject. I like to share interesting articles with readers eager to know about other people’s culture, custom and heritage. Africans used proverbs a lot in their daily conversation and admonition.

In 1985, my first time in Freetown, Sierra Leone, I entered into a restaurant and ordered for a plate of rice. On top of my rice was a strange greenish stew, which wasn’t good for me after tasting it. I asked the woman what it was and she told me it was prepared by cassava leaves.

She said I can try potato leaves stew,  if I want. I said ‘No’ and I went away. Months after living in Freetown and knowing much about their culture and food, I found out how delicious cassava leaves stew was. From time to time, I requested for the food I once rejected, any I went to the restaurant. It’s interesting to know about someone’s culture and food.

“It’s just beautiful a woman holds her breast when running, but that doesn’t mean it’s  going to fall off,” is one of Ghana’s intriguing proverbs.

The sight of a woman creates first impression. There are many things that put men off, especially when a woman’s hair isn’t well styled or when shabbily dressed.

In Africa it’s very common to see women running. I don’t think any one will find a woman attractive as her breasts flap on her chest as she runs.

Holding her breast while running, is one of the ways revealing how conscious a woman is over her body and truly men find it nice in that way too.

10 Powerful Proverbs Of Admonition

Bird

The bird just finished eating. Filled up, he flies up the tree and begins to sing praises to his creator for providing him food, nest and protecting him from rain, storm, and thunder. Yet the bird doesn’t know that underneath the tree, comes his enemy, the hunter, ready to shoot for his afternoon meal.

This is exactly how life on earth is when you don’t know your enemy. You may put a smile on your face every day, be kind and respectful to others, provide your family needs and be helpful when the needs arise, yet you’ve got an enemy you don’t know. Thus, be always conscious, watchful and careful where ever you step, so that you may live a happy life.

Here are 10 powerful and inspiring proverbs one should always keep in mind:

  1. Do not enter the path of the wicked and do not walk in the way of evil men.

2. Know this: People feed themselves with the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

3. The way of the wicked is like darkness, they do not know what makes them stumble.

4. Only fools despise wisdom and discipline.

5. My son, if sinners try to entice you, do not consent.

6. For because of a prostitute, a man is reduced to a loaf of bread, but the wife of another man preys on a precious life.

7. Say to wisdom “You are my sister and call understanding my relative.”

8. Whoever says to the wicked one “You’re righteous,” will be cursed by the people and denounced by the nations.

9. People will kiss the lips of the one replying honestly.

10. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you don’t know a day will bring.

Why Do Some People Risk It All To Cheat To Be Famous?

Johnson 5Cyclist Lance Armstrong, athlete Ben Johnson and author E.J. Ellory, deceived the world to the top, before their cups were full.

Do you feel restless and uneasy at times, because you want to achieve something but you feel lacking behind? Do you feel scared of failure in whatever you want to achieve in life sometimes, because things are not moving in your favour? Do you feel stagnant without progress in whatever project you are handling? It is part of life since people are passionate about things and as human beings we are likely to feel this way sometimes.

The question is: When engulfed in such times of uncertainty and fear, how do we handle it? People are dying to be famous. In pursuit of fame and success many take certain short routes which put them into shameful situations they have to live with it for the rest of their lives. No easy way to success. Success usually comes through hard work and sacrifice but why do some people prefer to cheat?

Ben Johnson

In 1988, Ben ‘The Bullet’ Johnson recorded one of the fastest times in athletic history in Seoul Olympic Games, after winning 100m gold medal.   The Canadian was stripped of his 100m gold medal after testing positive for drugs. Johnson claimed that herbal drink he consumed before the race caused his downfall, but the Olympic Committee didn’t accept this.

Samples of Johnson’s urine were tested for drugs immediately the third day after the 100m final which he won in a world record time of 9.79 seconds. Olympic officials confirmed that traces of the anabolic steroid, Stanozol, were found in his system. “A tragedy for Johnson and a great sadness for all Canadians,” said Canada’s Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.

Ben Johnson’s drug scandal was neither the first nor the last. Many athletes failed drug tests, including Marion Jones, who used banned substances.

Lance Armstrong has hundreds of fans worldwide, because great people inspire others. At the peak of his successful career, he placed eleventh in the World Championship Road Race with the best time of any American since 1976. From 1999 to 2005, Lance Armstrong consecutively won seven Tour de France titles, giving hope to other cancer patients as a cancer survivor. After a successful career, the US Anti-Doping Agency stripped him of his seven tour titles he had won and banned him from competing in cycling for life.

According to the Anti-Doping Agency, Lance Armstrong had used banned performance enhancing substances during the years of his career. Armstrong prior has vehemently denied the claims until January 2013, admitted to doping throughout his entire cycling career., leaving his fans miserably disappointed, as he steps down as chairman of the Livestrong cancer-awareness charity he founded. What a sad situation Armstrong and family have to live with entire lives?

E.J. Ellory admitted using fake identities to write about his work on Amazon. He writes glowing reviews for his own books, giving himself five-star ratings and slamming his competitors’ books. Why an author in the caliber of Ellory chose to live like that without any guilty conscience, while simultaneously criticising his rivals? “The earth provides much to satisfy every man’s need but not to satisfy every man’s greed,” great quote from Mahatma Gandhi.

While cheating is fundamental and part of human behavior many will do it. However, wickedness, evil, cheating and every negative activities men apply to enhance careers, would prevail but only for a little while. When the cup is full they shall be exposed.  Whoever thought R J Ellory, one of British leading authors will fake reviews?  The Birmingham based author, whose novels have sold more than a million copies admitted to cheating.

I don’t blame any of these men, for deceive the public. We are in a society many competing against others, so people are desperate to do anything which could take them to the top. We are in a world if one doesn’t come on television or radio; you are seen as nobody. Many feel comfortable with that but others can’t stand it, that’s where the cheating starts.

If people would take some few minutes to think of some wise proverbs and quotes, they would have saved themselves from disgrace. Yes! “God’s time is the best,” wait patiently and work hard for that success. Again, whatever one sows in life, the same he will reap and so whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. Finally, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” – Abraham Lincoln.

Tame Your Tongue: The Mouth Is A Trouble Seeker

Mouth

According to the Cambridge English dictionary, the definition of the mouth is: The opening in the face of a person or animal, consisting of the lips and the space between them, or the space behind containing the teeth and the tongue. Other dictionaries simply define the mouth as: The opening through which food passes into the body.

I don’t agree with any of these definitions, because to me they are incomplete. If I were to define “The Mouth,” it should be: A small opening through which food passes into the body, speech; singing and noise are made and at the same time can put someone into a very big trouble.

The mouth serves man in his speech. He gets satisfaction after eating and drinking water. The beautiful songs or melodious tunes with words of comfort, all come from the mouth, making life worthy and happy to live, yet the same mouth can give one a lot of discomfort, worries, troubles, and even imprisonment.

In the Bible, there are so many warnings and pieces of advice over how people should tame the tongue. Here are just two of them. ‘Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble. Proverbs 21:23. Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29.

In 1999, Glenn Hoddle lost his job as a coach to the England national team, after a shocking comment against disabled people. According to Glenn Hoddle “Disabled people are paying for sins in previous life.” Many people and the media rose against him, resulting to his dismissal from work. This is a typical example of the trouble the mouth can cause. Total disgrace and embarrassment aren’t it?

Bad comments always appear on social media and many passed unnoticed, but Liam Stacey spent 56 days in jail over his racial tweet against Bolton player Fabrice Muamba. Fabrice collapsed on the soccer field while playing, if Liam wasn’t prepared to wish him a speedy recovery, he shouldn’t say anything bad against the footballer at the point of death, instead he posted racial remarks on Twitter, provoking many people around the world.

This is not the first and the last careless talk or speech has cost people’s job or led one into jail. There is trouble brewing in every part of the world, and people’s life has been turned upside down, all because of what someone said to someone. I can say that there are two kinds of people. Those who think before they speak and those who speak before they think.

The latter one is those who are likely to be in trouble over what they say. In my country, there is a proverb which says “If you see a stone with a beard, just watch it and go. Don’t speak. This proverb is a warning to people who can’t shut their mouth.

There are many people who love to speak about other people. Even at work, many like to report other workers to the boss. In fact, just as some people are addicted to drug and alcohol, there are people also addicted to talking about other people. It’s their hobby and therefore can never stop.

Staying out of trouble is a simple rule to follow, yet many find it difficult to be trouble free. One of the rules which could keep people out of trouble is the practice of listening than speaking. An empty barrel makes a great noise. In life, great people do not speak much. They learn by listening.

It is better to be quiet for people to call you unsocial than to be called a gossiper, talkative and inquisitive. Proverbs 17:28. ‘Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise, when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.’

If One Pretends To Be Dead, Mourners Will Pretend To Bury You Alive

problem 1

Discussing your problems with someone you love is the best way to get help and solutions to the problem.

“If one pretends to be dead, mourners will pretend to bury you alive,” is one of the thousands of African proverbs meant to educate, shape our lives and inspire us, as each proverb carries a moral lesson, advice, and wisdom. This particular proverb speaks against pretending.

As imperfect human beings, we are responsible for both the good and bad things we do. Whichever way one takes it, to pretend is also considered to be something bad. The question is why do people pretend? According to a study, pretending has both advantages and disadvantages.

Sometimes one needs to pretend. For example, when all of a sudden in a cinema hall, a gunman on a shooting spree takes everyone by surprise without any escaping route, pretending to be dead among those already dead could save your life. But in other ways, pretending can cause self-destruction, depression, loneliness and other psychological problems. How?

The pressure in the society is enormous. Things are not going well, yet many people prefer to hide their problems behind a false smile. If you don’t share your problem with your family or a trustworthy friend, how can someone know your problem to give the attention or help you need? Researchers reveal that hiding a problem behind a false smile or faking happiness, is more likely to bring you harmful feelings.

You might not be happy with your job, because your boss or a colleague is sexually harassing you, exploiting you physically, emotionally and mentally, yet you wear a false smile behind such psychological scars. Instead of pretending to be okay, it’s always better to tell your problem to someone to receive help.

Many wish to be someone, because of the extravagant lives other people live. But we must be careful about what we sometimes wish for. We must be content with whatever we have to live a happy life. Don’t let your neighbor’s expensive car, push you to live beyond your means, and put on a fake smile, deceiving people that you are living great, while you know that you are struggling to make ends meet.

In Africa and other countries around the world, many are believed to be sick of HIV but scared to go and see the doctor, because they aren’t ready to be told they have contracted HIV or Aids.  They rather prefer to hide their problems with a fake smile, forgetting that no one drinks medicine on the behalf of a sick person.

To pretend that everything is okay, while suffering, is not good for our health, we must, therefore, confine our problems to those close to us for help and solutions. That’s the only way we can overcome and defeat our problems.
