With today’s way of life, people are more likely to suffer from obesity, and exposed to various diseases or contract some forms of cancer. On the other hand, modern day medicine has evolved such that people can rely on the latest drugs or devices to treat cancer.

When it comes to treating cancer, prevention and detection is probably the best way to nipping it in its bud. Thus, we should always go for regular health screenings to detect cancer in its early stages and isolate it early. On the other hand, we also try to prevent or delay contracting cancer as far as possible by consuming healthy foods, which we have compiled a list of for you. 1.    Cauliflower

Cauliflower contains sulforaphane, a compound that has been shown to have anti-cancer effects. Sulforaphane are released when cauliflower is broken down, so focus on chewing it before swallowing. This compound seeks and destroys certain cancer cells without harming your healthy cells.

There are plenty of recipes available online on how you can add cauliflower to your meals. Cauliflower and broccoli have similar effects, so add broccoli to your list of foods too.

2.    Carrots

Even though carrots are mainly thought to be good for one’s eye sight, researches from the last ten years suggest that they are also good against some types of cancer, one of which is prostate cancer.

A study was done on mice who were fed an increased carrot intake, and the study showed that carrots could stop the growth of prostate cancer. Carrot have many other health benefits too, there is no reason not to eat them!

3.    Avocados

Not many people are fans of this fruit, but avocados as a food are so beneficial, they are almost a must-have item in your kitchen. Avocados have an abundance of nutrients, mostly antioxidants which have been proven to reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer.

Avocados also have a high amount of healthy monounsaturated fat. This is a high-fat fruit, which is definitely interesting, considering how most of the other fruits are very low in fat or even fat free, and avocados can actually help you lose weight and not the reverse.

As a food, they are very versatile. You can make guacamole out of it, add slices to a sandwich or mix in with other fruits to create  a juice or smoothie.

4.    Broccoli

Broccoli is one of the best natural cancer fighters against many types of cancer. Colon and bladder cancer are among the top two cancers that can be treated or even prevented when eating broccoli. Find it in whichever form you can, be it fresh, frozen or pre-cooked, it will still retain most of its nutritional value!

The high fibre levels in broccoli can also help with your digestion, so broccoli is a vegetable that is beneficial for your health to eat often.

5.    Tomatoes

Tomatoes are healthy and tasty at the same time. Cooked tomatoes help your body release more lycopene, a specific phytochemical that provides cancer fighting benefits. Tomatoes also provide you with lots of antioxidants for your body, and are known to be useful to treat or prevent prostate cancer.

There are many ways to eat tomatoes, it can be eaten raw or cooked with dishes, or blended to make juice as well.

6.    Walnuts
Want to prevent breast cancer or prostate cancer? Walnuts may be your answer. They also contain lots of omega 3, a type of fatty acids that is actually beneficial to our health such as lowering our risk of coronary heart diseases and reducing high cholesterol. Walnuts are great as a breakfast food or as a snack in between meals.
7.    Garlic
Eating garlic has numerous health benefits, one of which of course is that it helps to prevent cancer. Garlic is said to be able to stop cancer cells from multiplying and spreading. They also have antiviral and antibacterial effects, acting like antibiotics and can work well especially against fungal infections.
8.    Ginger

Studies have shown that ginger actually works better than cancer drugs in fighting against cancer cells! This is especially noted in a study done examining the effects of ginger has on prostate cancer cells.

Apart from that, it also has anti-inflammatory properties, and can help as a cure against motion sickness. If you tend to suffer from motion sickness, eat some dried ginger peels, or boil ginger in water to make a light ginger water or tea.

“Worldwide obesity has more than doubled since 1980. In 2014, more than 1.9 billion adults, 18 years and older, were overweight. Of these over 600 million were obese, 39% of adults aged 18 years and over were overweight in 2014, and 13% were obese. 

Most of the world’s population live in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight. 42 million children under the age of 5 were overweight or obese in 2013. Obesity is preventable,” according to the World Health Organisation. 

In an effort to fight against increasing obesity, the government of Dubai recently offered residents, one gram of gold, which worth approximately $45 at that time, for every kilogram of weight loss. To make it a successful program, the weight loss was fixed in the time of Ramadan, when every Muslim eat less. The fact is serious obesity sends people early to the grave.

Food is extremely delicious, especially when well prepared to meet the right taste, but if you don’t have self-control, the ability or strength to fight food addiction, then you should know that you are inviting so many health hazards into your life. People suffering from obesity can tell you about criticisms and gossips against them daily in public, office or wherever they go.

In Europe, the United Kingdom has the higher rate of obesity and overweight people than anywhere in Western Europe, according to an authoritative global study that raises fresh concerns about the likely health consequences. In the UK, 67 percent of men and 57 percent of women are either fighting against obese or overweight. Published in the Lancet Medical Journal, according to the Global Burden of Disease Study, more than a quarter of children, 26 percent of boys and 29 percent of girls are also overweight in the UK.

Going to the gym to keep the body fit is a daunting task for many. If you want to avoid going to the gym to work against overweight, then eating the right food should be everyone’s priority. One needs to understand what some foods are high in saturated fats and cholesterol, you must, therefore, avoid these foods which build up in your stomach, arteries, and veins.

For example, the yolk of an egg has 300 mg of cholesterol; it is, therefore, better and healthy to eat the white instead. Eating 10 whole eggs in a week gives one 3 grams of cholesterol in your body. Another way of avoiding obesity is to stop eating fried foods since they absorb the fats that they are cooked in.

There are so many recommended books and online articles in health journals, on how to avoid or deal with obesity and overweight. You can do it too since many have done it. Prevention is always better than cure.

Women In Body Building: Why Are They Given Less Recognition?

It is often said, “Whatever a man can do, a woman can do better.” Yes, don’t underestimate women. There are women engineers, pilots, captains and host of others occupying high positions in various professional institutions, but how do we view a woman training her body to be Mrs. Atlas?

Even though there are many female bodybuilders, they are given less support and recognition than men. As a matter of fact, women have certain things which attract them to men.  Men like women with great smile, smell good, yes a lady’s perfume can sweep a man off his feet, soft and tender body, set of beautiful white teeth etc.

I can therefore understand why many men don’t like women following bodybuilding careers, because all the attractiveness and beautiful feminine features are now masculine features. The question is if women athletes that participate in sports, run, swim, throw javelin etc, what’s wrong if a woman involves in bodybuilding?

Many people are suffering from sicknesses such as obesity and diabetes, due to lack of training. To me, a woman who takes care of her body by training enjoys very good health than a diabetic patient or someone suffering from obesity. The body of a female bodybuilder may not be attractive to some people but they are very healthy.

This is the reason I think people should give them the support instead of hate, after all many female bodybuilders don’t do it for men, but because they love it. Research reveals that resistance training  help strengthen weak muscles, thus; eliminating shoulder, knee and back pains. Eating daily without training leads to many ailments, especially when getting older, it worth therefore to live a healthy life.
