According to World Health Organization figures, 500 children are killed each day in road crashes globally. In fact, road traffic injury ranks among the top four causes of death for all children over the age of five years. To raise awareness of this deadly reality, Jean Todt, President of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the international motoring federation, and Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Road Safety, turned to world renowned film director Luc Besson to deliver a potent message: children face incredible danger when crossing the road!
‘Save Kids Lives’, shows children in the townships of South Africa and in central Paris, France walking to and from school to show that the risks children face are almost universally shared, whether they are due to a lack of safe infrastructure or as a result of heavy traffic. The film is shocking, and may contain images some people find disturbing. But that’s exactly the point, according to Todt, who believes that it will help focus attention on making roads safe for children everywhere.
The film was launched the first week in October to coincide with International Walk to School Day and to support#SaveKidsLives, a UN initiative that calls for action to stop the growing number of road deaths worldwide and for decision makers to prioritize children’s safety.

DJ Priddle was born and brought up the Isle of Wight and studied Music Performance, through the University of Chichester. After finishing education, he spent an ‘idyllic’ 10 years working as a vocalist in various bands, travelling the length and bredth of the United Kingdom. Happening upon the “right place, right time” scenario, DJ was lucky enough to gain work for both the BBC and ITV, singing, acting and performing on children’s television.
Having discussed with a friend his secret love of writing that stemmed back to his imaginative youth, DJ was asked to put together a few short press releases for an independent PR company. With his love of writing, very much out in the open, DJ set about searching for all his old stories. Finding a large tatty box in the roof of his parent’s house, DJ began the lengthy process of sorting and editing. It was not long before he was sat in front of his computer with an idea forming in his head.
Having convinced his wife, Sarah, that this was not just another idea, that would soon be lying malformed in the gutter of his mind, alongside the ‘revolving fish tank’ that he was promising to build, and the Japanese bog garden that up to now is only part designed, DJ dedicated time to the craft, and began to learn the skill of fiction writing.
The Honey Trap, the first novel by DJ Priddle, was an amalgamation of the ideas and characters from his younger mind, a fast-paced pulp fiction story based on many of the films and TV shows that he had enjoyed as a teen. It was this writing journey that persuaded DJ to embrace the dark dystopian themes forming in his mind, and push them out onto the page through the eyes and feelings of Jonas Brock.
DJ says, “As his life, ideas and feelings grow in my mind, Jonas has carved out his own tiny part of my history. His relationships, friends and enemies arrive fully formed, in my mind on a daily basis, making him (if only to me) a moody but memorable detective.”
DJ Priddle continues to perform regularly in bands, and now presents a Sunday morning show on local radio.
You can be happier, healthier and have more success in your life by simply creating a meditation habit. In this book I’ll show you how quieting your mind and learning to focus can completely change your life!
You must have heard people talk about the amazing powers of meditation. You might have met people raving about how meditation transformed their life. You might have even read blogs teaching you how to meditate, but when you tried it you found it incredibly frustrating and not peaceful at all.
If that sounds like you, then don’t worry because you are not alone–most people feel this way. Meditation is not an easy skill to master. It takes years, if not a lifetime to master this skill. The good news is that you don’t have to master it in order to enjoy its benefits.
If you can develop the habit of meditating daily, even for a few minutes, you can achieve wonderful results in your life. Meditation will improve both your physical and mental health, reduce stress, improve your brain power and teach you how to focus your attention on the task at hand, thereby increasing your productivity.
“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes a day, unless you are too busy. Then you should sit for an hour.” ~Zen Proverb
I’m sure not all successful people meditate but you’d be surprised how many of them do some form of meditation. It’s an important skill to have for achieving success in life. If you can develop the meditation habit, it will certainly improve your chance of finding success.
An increasing number of scientific studies have been carried out on meditation and almost all of them have shown that meditation can be used to alter brain waves and brain chemistry. But if you are still skeptical, just give meditation a try for a few months. If you meditate daily for just a few months, you’ll experience the benefits firsthand and lose your skepticism.
The only problem is that even those who do believe in the powers of meditation find it hard to turn it into a habit. Meditation can be frustrating if you set unrealistic goals for yourself. Most beginners do it the wrong way. They end up thinking that they just can’t control their mind enough to meditate and give up. But this doesn’t have to be you!
In this book I’ll show you how anyone can learn to meditate and how with a little persistence and a systematic approach you too can develop this seemingly hard habit. After that, it’s only a matter of time before you start seeing results. You’ll continue to reap the benefits as you get better at meditation. Who knows, someday you may even find enlightenment!

The definition of ‘life’ is defined in many ways by different dictionaries. My explanation for what life is: Someone taking a journey. If he drives carefully, he reaches his destination safely and if he drives recklessly, he ends up in a ditch or even dies. Everyone has a problem and many times psychologists and psychiatrists traced the cause of the problems to our homes.
Many were born in broken homes and daily abused by alcoholic parents. At school children becomes subject to bullies, racism, discrimination and all kinds of mental torture, leaving them psychological scars, sometimes for the rest of their lives. Even some children born handicap, feel discriminated and shunned by society.
Others suffering from ailments and diseases such as Aids, are completely cut off from society and friends, instead of the love they deserve to pass through the hard times of their lives. Going through such life difficulties: Do you know that you have the courage and willpower to deal with your problems and be whatever you want to be in the society?
Why do you allow problems to take over your life and sell your body when you have a beautiful future ahead of you? Why do you sell drugs for living when there are many opportunities to lift you up from that situation? No matter how serious your situation is, always remember that: you’ve got the power to change your life to be a great person in the society.
That’s where career planning comes in and in fact planning your career isn’t a difficult task or needs skills. You only have to list your interests and choose one to pursue. Many times when writing articles, I love to share my experience. Belgium is not like America, Canada or even Netherlands, countries which have many opportunities for the black man.
I have seen many black journalists in neighboring Holland, America, France, Canada etc, but in Belgium for the past fifteen years, I haven’t seen any black journalist on their television yet. That doesn’t bother me any way, it rather encourages me to focus on my career to become a successful writer, and one thing which I did to avoid depression and to concentrate on my goals is to look for a job as a cleaner.
Even though I have a forklift driving license, I gave up the job and took cleaning as my profession. I clean eight hours per day and write my books at the same time. Just find yourself something to do, no matter how poor the job is and earn something monthly. That will lift up your spirit to be happy to do whatever you want in life.
The world is full of glamorous and beautiful people. We watch film and musicians performing daily on stage or on the television, yet you wouldn’t believe your ears, when you hear of what some of the celebrities went through when they were young. Charlize Theron, one of the successful film actresses, father was alcoholic. Together with her mother, they were abused by her father, yet she put all that behind her to be a great actress today.
Christina Aguilera confessed about how her father physically abused her mother, sister and herself. Rihanna’s childhood was badly affected due to her father’s drug addiction. Today both Christina and Rihanna are successful as musicians. The ultimate question is, would you allow your problems to kill you or determined to kill the problems?
Life is short but while in this world, you can change the world with your knowledge. Crime does’t pay, education is the key, but if it eludes you, another door is open. Cultivate your talent and pray, because through Christ who strengthens us, we can do everything. My life story about how I made it as a writer and journalist in Belgium, going as far as to investigate the high death rate of Africans at the notorious Stuivenberg hospital in Antwerp and brought it to an end, can be read in the book:
