“If you have a big farm, yet haven’t visited anyone’s farm, you may think your farm is the largest.” This is one of the common daily proverbs often heard in my native country, Ghana. Overwhelmed and bombarded by problems, you may think your burden is the heaviest, but after knowing how serious your neighbor’s problem is, you will realize that your problem is just as tiny as the mustard seed.
We are in a world everyone isn’t satisfied or happy over something, because we are witnessing carnage, violence, murder, terrorism, crime etc; in every corner of the globe. Many are rich, yet because of greed, they are never happy or content with whatever they have. The desire to protect or accumulate more property, becomes the rich man’s burden.
Yes, everyone thinks his burden is the heaviest, but when you listen to other people’s story, you may start giving thanks to God, because your load is the lightest. Many wake up in the morning with shattered hopes and dreams. They sit and watch people passing by, because they are unemployed, thinking of where their next meal is coming from.
So why do you have to complain when working and your fridge, home full of groceries to keep you going for a week or more? Life is beautiful but many see it ugly. They are those who haven’t got any love for mankind, because they have no love for themselves. Receiving every time doesn’t make one happy. When you help your fellow brother struggling along the road to reach his destination safely, your reward will overflow its banks.
Everyone blames the people for the carnage, destruction and suffering of this world, but who are the people? Instead of taking the life of the innocent, because he is a Christian or a Muslim, you must use that precious time to pray for love and peace, because vengeance belongs to God. No one has the right to take someone’s life and said he did it for Allah or God. If you claim Allah is great, let that great God you worship takes His own action.
Instead of exploiting people for your selfishness, abusing children, kidnapping and forcing women into prostitution, selling drugs for a living, leading to the destruction of users, dominating the poor and the underprivileged, promoting racial violence, discriminating against others, violently terrorizing others; we must take these ailments destroying out communities into consideration, to restore our nation’s dignity.
That’s the only way to create a better and happy future for the next generation, including our children.
