Information from Chernor Ojuku Sesay, Press attaché Sierra Leone Embassy Belgium.

The Diplomatic staff at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Brussels, led by  the head of the Chancery Mrs Florence Bangalie, embarked on a mission to locate the whereabouts of the evacuated Sierra Leoneans, following the bomb attacks at Brussels’ Airport.

The evacuated passengers, both outbound and inbound have been relocated to three different places in Antwerp, Vilvoorde and Leuven.

The Brussels Airline management provided buses for the stranded passengers to Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Paris airports, where arrangements were made to fly them to different destinations.

The passengers were without luggage. In the confusion which ensued following the unexpected bomb explosion, many lost personal items, including laptops, ipads etc.

The embassy painstakingly assisted some the stranded Sierra Leoneans by providing travelling documents that will enable them to proceed further to Freetown.

Those without Schengen visas were not allowed to move out of the camps. They were requested to stay calm as they await escorts  to either Germany, Holland  or France to join other flights.

There were rumours that Sierra Leoneans were among the dead and injured. This is too early to be confirmed by the embassy and the Belgian rescue team hasn’t provided any concrete information yet.

This detailed information might be released before the end of the week. The embassy will keep you posted on any further development.

Sierra Leoneans around the world, including the Belgium branch of the APC party, are deeply saddened by this tragedy and wish to send their sympathy and condolences to the injured and families of those that lost their loved ones.

The Incompetent Belgian Government Responsible For Terrorist Attacks

Brussels 8

BY

As the world sends its sympathy to the victims of the recent terror attacks in Brussels, the most fervent prayer to be uttered for Belgium itself is that it finally wakes up. The incompetent Belgian government, its bureaucratic law enforcement agencies and its half-hearted intelligence services deserve as much blame for the slaughter as the murderers.

For more than a decade, the bumblers in Belgium have stood by as terrorist hotbeds emerged in their midst. Speaking to Newsweek on condition of anonymity, frustrated intelligence officers in other European countries slammed the Belgians, saying that they have failed to do the basic legwork to detect terrorist cells in neighborhoods around Brussels, with their efforts instead focused on groups that all but announce themselves, such as Sharia4Belgium, whose leaders were prosecuted last year. Belgian law enforcement has few contacts or informants in the areas around Brussels where terrorists live. Only in the last few months has Belgium started pumping greater funding to intelligence efforts and to recruiting more personnel.

Belgium’s lackadaisical approach to Islamic terrorist cells has placed much of the continent in danger, which is why government officials from the European Union and the United States have been quietly pressing its leaders to shape up, intelligence officials say. The terrorists who have set up shop in Brussels are only a short drive from Paris, Strasbourg, Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt and Berlin.

Few in the intelligence community were surprised to discover that the November terrorist attacks in Paris were organized in Belgium, led by a Belgian named Abdelhamid Abaaoud, and included a suicide bomber and shooter from Belgium. That attack was the deadliest in the European Union since the 2004 Madrid train bombings, whose perpetrators included Belgians in a terrorist cell that was part of the Groupe Islamique Marocain Combattant.

Europe: Belgium’s War On Terror

Belgium Paris Attacks

Police stand near a barricade during an operation in the center of Brussels.

Belgium (CNN)Brussels: It’s a quaint but bustling city, famed for its picture postcard squares, its chocolate and its beer. But it is rapidly becoming infamous, too, as a fertile recruiting ground for jihadi fighters.

According to police, the carnage of the Paris attacks was plotted here, and it was in these streets that fugitiveSalah Abdeslam hid out in an apartment after abandoning his mission, dumping his suicide belt in a Parisian street and calling friends for help, after apparently driving his co-conspirators to their deaths.

That Abdeslam was caught at all appears to have been an enormous stroke of luck. Despite a massive security operation, the trail appeared to have gone cold, until police, initiating a search for evidence at Abdeslam’s safe house on Tuesday, encountered a barrage of gunfire which tipped them off that something — or someone — important was inside.

Abdeslam and another man are believed to have escaped while a fellow suspect distracted police; he was eventually shot dead but by then Abdeslam had fled, across the rooftops.

Three days later, on Friday, officers finally cornered him in a daring daytime raid on another apartment, bringing to an end an international manhunt that had lasted more than four months.

But authorities here still don’t know what — if any — terror plans are in the works, even with Abdeslam himself finally captured alive and charged, awaiting extradition to France.

Hotbed of jihadist ideology

Belgium remains wary and on edge, its alert level stuck at “grave” — the second highest stage — with security forces warning of a very real threat of attack.

In the past several weeks, CNN went to Molenbeek, a working-class district that has found notoriety as a hotbed of violent jihadist ideology, to find out what — if anything — had changed since the bloodshed in Paris four months ago.

It took months to coax people to meet with us. Many had received threats from self-proclaimed extremists directly to their mobile phones, warning them against speaking to the media.

Belgian officials have been unable to quell the flow of fighters traveling to ISIS territory, and — perhaps more worryingly, authorities are terrified the fighters will bring another Paris-style attack — back to Europe.
Brussels is just a short drive away from a host of major cities: Paris, of course, but also Amsterdam, Cologne, Strasbourg, Frankfurt, Berlin; hop into a car or onto a train and almost anyone can travel between any number of European cities within a few hours. Only recently, especially after the Paris attacks, did some European nations begin implementing immigration checks.

ARE YOU EASY TO LIVE WITH?

Sad 6Many are experiencing bitter relationships, but how many of them try to find out the reason things are not going the right way?

Many are raised from different homes, influenced by different  culture, custom and tradition. Thus, living with other people sometimes becomes a very difficult issue, proving that it’s often wrong if we lean on our own understanding. Many times you may think you are right but wrong.

It is very common and part of our everyday life, to see beautiful ladies and gentlemen in town and at the offices. The perfume they wear add glamor to their personalities with sweet charm, but many are experiencing bitter relationships, often taking away their happiness and putting them into a tunnel of misery.

The set up of our homes immediately convey the message to a visitor, nature, and character of those dwelling there and the sort of training or life being acquired from it. Truly, the life and character of a person can easily be determined from the home he or she was raised. Thus, are you one of those hard to live with, because of your bad character or the nature of the home you were raised?

If you are a lady or gentleman in your late thirties and still living single, after many stormy affairs, it’s time to sit quietly and ask: Am I a difficult person to live with? If I am, how can I make things better?

Once in Amsterdam, I shared a kitchen with other tenants living in the apartment. More than a dozen times, I witnessed one of the male tenants spitting into the kitchen sink. A kitchen I cut my meat and do my cooking? I was shocked to the extent that I lost the desire to cook in that kitchen. I couldn’t tell him to stop because I don’t want any confrontation.

This went on and on until one of the tenants caught him in the act again and the confrontation escalated into a physical fight. Eventually, the owner of the apartment who wasn’t pleased with what he did, ejected him from that apartment. How can an adult or fully grown man, lack the intelligence to do something like that without noticing that’s completely wrong?

In another development, a man lost his job because his employers said he stinks. He stood his ground to tell his boss that he is the one that stinks. This bad odor is something I knew, but couldn’t tell him, because there are certain things not easy to speak about it. This is a problem which shows that as human beings we do many things and harbored many bad characters we don’t simply see or notice them.

In the early 2000’s, I nearly lost my job at the restaurant I was working at in Antwerp. One of my female colleague’s armpit stinks very bad. I was finding it difficult to work with her, so I bought her a deodorant to use. The deodorant ended up in the hands of her husband, who came to the office with his wife to see my boss. Luckily, I had already discussed this issue with my boss, thus; I was set free. It was a lesson I’m now very careful about the way I approach things. Some kindness may put you into a very big trouble.

Life is wonderful. Life doesn’t mean suffering but chains of sad and bad events, including bad habits and character, have taken its toll on mankind today, making life worthless to some people. We can make life better and worthy to live, by being humble, eliminating foolish pride, be content with whatever we have and give respect and to love our neighbors.

Technology Can Help Improve Your Life, Yet You Can’t Cheat Nature

Dolly

‘Joseph’s coat of many colors’ couldn’t prevent Dolly Parton from plastic surgery. Wasn’t she beautiful before the surgical operation?

Once working in Amsterdam, I said to my colleague: “The old photographs of Michael Jackson show how handsome he was, wondering the motive behind his nose job.”

The colleague looked at me and said: “If you have money like Michael Jackson, believe me, you will do more than what he did. Money tells people what to do, you’re poor the reason you’re criticizing him.”

I didn’t argue with him but I thought of what he said to me the whole day. I have never hated any part of my body since from my youth and through my adulthood. So what does he mean that if I have money I will do more than what he did?

It’s unfortunate that many people don’t like they way they look or hate something particularly on the body, which they think don’t make them attractive.

As modern technology advances, people that want to change something on the body are actively engaged to plastic surgery, despite apparent negative consequences.

Those who undergo surgical correction may seem very happy after the operation some few years later, but I don’t have words to describe how horrible some of them looked like in their ripe age.

Whether smaller nose,  sexy lips, tighter tummy or perkier breasts, plastic surgery can take it’s toll on your health one day. Many went under knife to be beautiful, but at the moment they looked like creatures from different planet trying to find home among us.

Yes, technology can improve your health and life but you can never cheat nature. Your body and leg reveal you are over fifty but your face reveals you are about thirty-five or you wear mask. Are you satisfied about that? Don’t deceive yourself.

Do You Experience God’s Miracle In Your Life?

Genesis 2I grew up in a family that strongly believes in God. At the corner of my parents’ bed room, stands a small table covered with a white cloth. On this table, lies the Holy Bible, which belongs to my mother. She wakes up early in the morning to pray without ceasing. Sometimes I see her shedding tears in her prayers, when she feels her prayers had been answered or touched spiritually.

Life, to many is sex, enjoyment, doing drugs, rock and roll, then after, you say good bye to your friends, when it’s time to go and sleep peacefully or tormented in your grave. That’s not the meaning of life. Life has a significant meaning or purpose. Watching my mother, each morning, behind the small table, I developed certain interest in seeking the face of God and started following her footsteps.

I read my Bible daily, and tried my best to live to the principle the holy book teaches. Like everyone, I wasn’t perfect, I did many things which I shouldn’t do as a child, but not in my adult hood. As I begin to mature, I started experiencing the miracle of God’s hand in my life. There are times I joke about it saying: Death doesn’t like ugly people, the reason I’m still living.

I was once carried away by the sea, because I couldn’t swim. Like Jonah in the belly of the whale and brought to the shores of Nineveh, after people gave up to save me, they watched as a mighty wave brought me ashore. The impact was heavy and the state of shock I find myself in at that moment, prevented me to put on my clothes. I walked home naked. Till now I’m scared of the sea and can’t swim.

I was once crossing a busy street in Africa, after watching both sides of the road, I felt secured to cross, but from nowhere I was caught up in the middle of the road, when a taxi hits me. Like a superman, I find my body in the mid-air, landing on top of the vehicle’s bonnet. The impact severely damaged the bonnet, but I survived.

In Africa, I was travelling on a mini-bus with other passengers. It was a very sunny day. I think the pressure in the vehicle’s Tyre warmed up to certain degrees Celsius, thus; one of the front Tyre’s exploded. The vehicle somersaulted continuously and finally landed on its side. I jumped out from the front seat without a scratch, when many were rushed to the hospital with injuries.

In Lagos State, Nigeria, I was kidnapped by armed robbers in military uniform. It was a swift action which took me by surprise. I was holding a small hand bag which attracted them. They thought probably the bag has over a million dollars. In the rear of the car, I struggled with them and wouldn’t let the bag go, while the butt of the rifles they were holding rain on every part of my body, including my head.

After every attempt failed, they pushed me from the vehicle while in motion and I landed on the ground with a force, like a bag of salt. I stood up, brushed the dust off my body and walked home. But the scars of the beating I had, can still be traced on my body today, after three decades.

In Amsterdam, I was nearly killed by a woman while on my bicycle. I fell and rolled ahead, while her front Tyre were on my bicycle. According to her, the sun partially blinded her, so she didn’t see me. I had bruises all over my body. She carried my badly damaged bicycle to a repairers’ shop and paid for the cost. Anxious to know of my condition, she called me the next day. I told her I’m doing well. That was the last time she called.

In Antwerp, Belgium, after holidays in Africa, I came back penniless with bills to pay. There was a particular one I needed time to pay 110 Euros at my son’s secondary school. That was a second letter reminding me, thus; the third letter wouldn’t be good for me. The end of the month to get my salary was still far, thus; the situation was actually disturbing.

It was winter and very dark, on my way to work, I spotted something like a folded money on the bicycle lane. I stopped and walked back to see if it’s money or mind is just playing tricks on me. Behold, it was money. I took it and unfolded it. Guess how much? Two fifty Euro notes, one ten Euro note and one five Euro note, a total of 115 Euros.

After work, I quickly went home to pay the 110 Euros to the school and used the five Euros to buy some few thing I needed most. There is no need to doubt over these stories, because they came from Joel Savage, the writer who loves non-fiction articles and books. Have you ever experienced the miracle of God’s hand in your life?

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Said Jesus at Matthew 7:7. Just as sports is good for the body, reading the Bible is good for the mind and your spiritual being.

Can We Rise Above Negative Attitudes And Hurtful Feelings?

Have faith and depend on Jesus

People pray during a mass held outside the public school where 12 children were killed by a gunman last week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In the community, your neighbour can be your enemy, your brother can be your enemy and your sister can be your enemy. When two people have a difference, both often become angry. The reason we see sons rise against fathers, daughters against mothers, brother against brother and sister against sister.

Some of the painful and hurtful things in life, is when you don’t know where you went wrong, or the mistake you did, but someone hates you. You try to reason with the person, making efforts to settle, but since he has bad intentions, he isn’t prepared to make peace with you. Perhaps you have experienced a similar situation.

There are people who take other people’s quiet nature, submissiveness, and humbleness, as stupid or foolishness. Before you start hating someone, probably your close friend or relative, sit down with him, face to face, to let him or her know what the problem is. You can’t just begin calling the person a liar, fool and going far to tell your brother or sister of stealing your money to wed his wife or her husband, by writing letters.

Some people like to live a simple life, even though they can afford everything, including a car, yet he or she prefers to use a bicycle to work. That doesn’t mean that the person is stupid or has failed in life. If you live with pride and arrogance and wants to advertise your wealth, go on, because not everyone is interested in what you do.

People who live with pride feel very intelligent in their own eyes. When they are talking to you, they try to make you understand or believe they are the most intelligent people on earth. But the more you remain silent, to listen or read whatever they write, the more you see how stupid and foolish they are. Even the ten foolish virgins are all intelligent.

Most people often never think of how pride can be destructive. There was once a man who lives in Amsterdam. He was very famous, because of the way he lives and boastful nature. Anytime he travels to Africa, he demolishes part of the house he was building, suggesting to the builders to build a modern house, even though the plan of the house they were following was a modern plan. He was never satisfied with any modern house since he changes his mind frequently anytime he sees a beautiful house.

Unfortunately, he was involved in a serious crime. After serving his prison sentence, he was deported to Africa. He now lives in an uncompleted building over a decade. As human beings, we need to be careful of the words that come from our mouth. There are words once spoken, they will come back to hurt or haunt you. You can’t reject something, then later want it back. You can’t take your brother to court when he asked you to sit down with him to solve the problem amicably.

Your uncontrollable anger and pride, are driving you to execute devilish plans against your brother, but nothing is working. That brother you are fighting against is using his precious time, seeking the intervention of Jesus, to give him the patience to endure the pain and temptations he is going through. And it works. Once you read your Bible each day or go to church to worship each Sunday, you learn certain practical principles, which will help you to overcome the hardest obstacles ahead of you.

I posted this article to encourage everyone facing any difficulties in life, to trust and believe in God. Try Jah’s love when everything fails. Seek the face of Jah in the world’s most widely read book: The Bible. It encourages us to cultivate qualities, such as discernment, love, kindness, insight and patience. Above all the Bible can help you to promote peace and heal emotional wounds.
