Nigeria:The Corrupt Political System In Deals With Multinational Oil Companies

Delta 1Oil pilferage and environmental health hazards in the Delta State of Nigeria

By Micro-surgeon and scientist Johan Van Dongen

The Nigeria Report: ‘A Cesspool of Corruption and Crime in the Niger Delta,’ isn’t difficult to find. This report is already written by Horand Knaup in ‘Der Spiegel On Line,’ speaks for itself.

After my discussion with author Fabestine Providence, the head of Fabestine Providence Nigeria Limited, I’m compelled to finding out the connection between Dutch Shell Company and the corrupt Nigerian regime.

The words of Providence on how corrupt a country can be, become a reality, after reading the article by Horand Knaup. Yes, the African continent houses many corrupt regimes, as writer Joel Savage and I found out about corrupt African leaders, enabling us to write many articles on this issue affecting the development of Africa.

Fabestine Providence said: “The activities of the corrupt authorities are deep then you can write about.” His words are still fresh in my mind. Frankly speaking, the corrupt nature of many African leaders is destroying Africa, including those that have collaborated with the Shell company.

It is a fact that most Nigerian authorities are paid by every multinational company involved with Nigeria. They can’t act otherwise. Fabestine Providence wants someone who can write a script for a movie about Nigeria’s underworld, for the common suffering Nigerians to understand how the underworld operates and get finances from lots of sources in the country.

This information may be kept by the Nigerian government as confidential, but it is already in the virtual clouds because the leaked US diplomatic cables revealed just what multinational oil companies are up against in the Niger Delta. Security forces are ineffective, involved in dubious oil deals and the government demands millions in bribes.

Even university students have earned pocket money by working as kidnappers because the kidnap industry employs students during university vacations.

Bombs are used against civilians and millions paid to corrupt officials. The US diplomatic cables from the Nigerian cities of Abuja and Lagos, paint an unusual bleak picture of the situation in the oil-rich Niger Delta.

Hardly any of the international oil companies active in the delta publishes production figures, kidnappings and hostage-taking, yet these are a daily occurrence issue, while the civilian population is suffering, even though they have got nothing to do with the government’s corrupt schemes.

The central government in Abuja has neglected the delta for decades. It has failed to build schools, hospitals, and roads and has simply ignored the serious environmental problems. All that mattered was that the oil kept flowing, and continued to produce kickbacks for the political elite.

“The Federal Government has not funded one road in the key Niger Delta States in the last ten years,” reads one of the cable massages in February 2009, from the US Consulate in Lagos, citing a high-ranking politician which could be Babatunbe Fashola. In the face of such neglect, organized crime has become rampant in the delta.

There are kidnappers who are in bed with the authorities and special military units that sometimes fight rebels in the delta and frequently have a stake in the oil business. The rebels, although staged attacks on the multinational oil companies, they also sell oil and enjoy police protection. The political elite thrives on the chaotic situation.

Students don’t only involved in kidnap but attack oil platforms, but also guard hostages. The same rebel oil traders managed to get Fabestine Providence out of the country. Even inside the Black Axe Movement is corruption. The students earn $1,071 for a three-month period vacation.

However, with the Joint Task Force, an army unit pressing them, the job is no longer glamorous but dangerous. Companies that drill oil in Nigeria need to have strong nerves. It is hard to obtain reliable information and rumours circulate wildly. Do the rebels who are targeting the multinationals’ production efforts, really have anti-aircraft missiles to shoot down companies’ helicopters, as one message describes? Is the Russian energy giant ‘Gazprom’ planning to get into the natural gas business in the country? Another important question is which investors might be participating in a gas pipeline across the Sahara to Algeria?

The 4,000-kilometer pipeline to the Mediterranean coast would likely cost at least €10 billion. According to one cable, the multinationals ‘Total and Gazprom’ are interested in the project. The head of Exxon Mobil in Nigeria, however, dismissed the pipeline project as “fantasy,” that would never become a reality because the pipeline is too expensive and politically too risky. Above all, it would not benefit Nigeria and of course, it will not be surprised that the Dutch Shell Group is involved in corruption.

There are bitter complaints coming from Western oil companies. At a meeting with the US – Africa envoy, Johnnie Carson, oil executives criticized the “amateur technocrats” who are in charge of the oil and gas business on the Nigerian side. The managers said that Nigerian politicians believe that deep-sea drilling would earn them no money. Partners from banks and the business world did not understand the business, they said. The government in Abuja had collected $2.5 billion dollars in revenue over the previous two years but had not made any investments in return.

At another meeting, an Exxon Mobil manager reported that companies had to calculate for a loss of around 40% for oil transport via overland pipelines in the country; a result of oil theft. ‘It was more efficient to import refined oil from Europe than to process it in Nigeria itself’, he said. The police charged with protecting the pipelines seemed primarily concerned with coordinating the pilfering and letting potential thieves know where they could steal the oil.

One dispatch from Washington reads: “Nigeria’s four state-owned refineries have an installed capacity of 445,000 barrels per day. They have a history of fire, sabotage, poor management, lack of turn-around maintenance and corruption. These elements have limited refinery output to 40 percent of capacity or less.”

In January 2009, one oil executive complained that the already bad situation had gotten worse. Widespread attacks by pirates had led to tanker shipping companies only accepting contracts under certain conditions. Nigerian government officials apparently responded by telling her: “Hire more security.”

What about the Israeli Involvement? Another oil company protested that high-ranking Nigerians demanded millions in bribes for rights to load tankers. In addition, a top Nigerian prosecutor told a visitor that; “He would sign a document only if the visitor paid $2 million immediately and another $18 million the next day.”

The Nigerian government finds deals involved with multinational companies unique in the oil industry. A report dated March 2009 states that: “Shell and Total recently revealed that they were forced to loan their Nigerian partners billions of dollars, below-market rates to support ongoing joint venture operations.”

Delta 2An oil spill in the Delta State of Nigeria and the threat of  environmental health hazards

US diplomats also referred to a complaint from one of the oil multinational companies, about the Nigerian Navy, which the complaint said, was totally incapable of protecting oil companies in the delta. When rebels attacked an oil platform in the Gulf of Guinea with a total of six-speed boats, Shell employees sounded the alarm at 2:30 a.m. It was only at 7:30 p.m after the attackers had long disappeared that naval boats arrived and their primary aim was to obtain supplies of fuel and food from the platform.

Here and there, however, improvements have been reported. Israeli security experts in the Nigerian state of Bayelsa were now going to keep the kidnapper gangs at bay. One dispatch reads: In fact, US diplomats write, the Israelis are remarkably active in the Niger Delta. The Israeli military provides equipment and training to the Nigerian special unit that fights rebels in the delta. Back in October 2007, the unit lacked functioning helicopters and armored troop carriers and only had two gunboats.

Now it has more than a hundred vehicles, around two dozen boats and two helicopters at its disposal. There is apparently one small problem, some members of the unit are deeply involved in dubious oil deals. Thanks to Horand Knaup, for all this information, even though it is now known publicly.

I feel more pain and helpless over the situation of Fabestine Providence, as an asylum seeker in the Netherlands, but the Dutch government wouldn’t like to keep him in the country, despite knowing the roots of his problem, since they are part of the corruption and environmental hazard in the Delta of Nigeria.

The Spectrum Of Business In Africa Through E-Commerce

Commerce 3

Small scale and large scale entrepreneurs have taken the advantage of the effectiveness of the media and technology, including e-commerce to promote and market products, reaching every corner of the globe without fatigue. What is e-commerce and how has it been beneficial to entrepreneurs?

Assuming you live in Asia, Europe or America, would you like to travel thousands of kilometers for a product you want desperately in South Africa? Taking such a journey is not only waste of time but also money. Remember time is money. Through the birth of modern technology, e-commerce acts as a facilitator in getting your message to the manufacturer to send the consumer whatever he is looking for online.

Thus; E-commerce is online shopping making it easier for consumers to purchase products via the internet from manufacturers. E-commence enhances business to reach beyond consumer base and access global markets like never before. Last year, November 18, delegates at the ‘Sixth Annual European Conference highlighted on the effect and impact of in E-commerce generally in Europe.

The European E-Commerce sector is said to worth an estimated 350 billion Euros and it is predicted to create 1.5 million jobs in Europe by 2018.  The writer takes a look at the impact and benefit of e-commerce in Africa’s business. The effect of E-commerce business in the African continent is enormous, changing the face of the traditional consumer.

Internet trade has made it easier for African entrepreneurs to search for quality products online, compare prices and purchased products. According to research by Google South Africa, there was an increase of 49% in query volumes in Nigeria, 37% in South Africa and 33% in Kenya, during 2014.  E-commerce hasn’t been beneficial only to African entrepreneurs, consumers and manufacturers, but also attracted widely investment opportunities alike.

Some of the African countries with booming E-commerce markets, transforming the economic landscape are Senegal, Morocco, Mozambique, Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, Cameroun, and Kenya. At the epicenter of Africa’s thriving economy and business, E-commerce has driven hundreds of businessmen to success, in different fields, especially the mobile telephone industry.   In the year 2010 alone, the Ghanaian government made GHC598 million in taxes and levies, representing 10% of government income for that year.

The secret to every successful business depends on the variety and quality of the products. E-commerce holds a ray of hope for African entrepreneurs and small scale business. It seems after gaining the political independence; Africa folded its arms, waiting for a miracle to come from heaven. God helps those who help themselves, now Africa is gradually emerging from the realms of poverty through the eye of E-commerce.

“Let Europe Keep Their Homosexual Nonsense There And Live With It”- Robert Mugabe

GAYS 8Is that what Europe and America want to teach Africa when the continent hasn’t yet found solutions to its Aids, malaria, Ebola and other deadly diseases?

“Let Europe keep their homosexual nonsense there and live with it. We will never have it here.” This is a statement the Zimbabwean leader, Robert Mugabe made during a speech in July 2013.

Mugabe has reacted again  “I’ve just concluded, since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance – thus, if it becomes necessary, I shall travel to Washington, DC, get down on my knee and ask his hand, mocking the US Supreme Court’s decision.

Selfishness, greed, power and the media’s hypocrisy, prevent people to understand Robert Mugabe. Africa is the least respected continent in the world, but when it comes to things the continent isn’t interested, why do world leaders and the stupid media fail to understand?

Homosexuality is regarded as an abominable act in Africa. But this social vice which is less popular in the continent is now becoming famous in many African countries, turning the countries into an unnerving place to live in, because church leaders and many organizations against this practice, wouldn’t like to embrace this type of culture to add to their own culture.

At times, I do ask my self over and over, do Europeans and Americans think Africa will accept whatever they are interested? Africa has nothing to do with Christianity before the white missionaries ever went there. They thought Africans to follow the Bible teachings. Well, later the truth was discovered. The reason was not to let Africans know about Christ but to loot.

Fortunately, many parts of Africa derived interest in the Bible and studied it thoroughly, therefore living by its teachings. An African Christian, explaining his point to defend his hate against homosexuality, would take one deep step into the Bible, to give you a reference. Two of such scriptures confirming that homosexuality is an evil act can be read at  1st Timothy, chapter 10 and 1st Corinthians, chapter 6, verse 9.

Women 4They called it same-sex marriage in Europe and America, but Africans are not used to this.

The question is: “Why are Europeans and other Gay Rights Organizations, now fighting for the practice of homosexuality to be recognized in Africa, when they have already been there with the Holy Bible, a book telling Christians how evil the practice of homosexuality is?” The teachings of the Holy Bible can’t be reversed, so I am afraid to say that Africa can never change its mind or opinion on the negative aspects of homosexuality.

Africa is already overwhelmed by many diseases, such as AIDS, Ebola, and malaria, therefore it makes sense when they don’t want that practice. Europeans,  Americans and some organizations, are the first people that voices are heard whenever there is any bad situation in Africa. But whenever there is an epidemic, the respond to contain the situation never comes or very slow.

Africa has learned a lot from their misfortunes, that is the reason it is fighting against homosexuality today. Unfortunately, the path Uganda has taken to deal with this issue is totally out of course. The proposal for the death penalty for homosexuals is sheer madness. Violence against homosexuals is not an option or solution.

Why did Obama choose to endorse same-sex marriage throughout America during the last moments in his office? That’s what is called ‘Politricks.’ He wants votes for his party, because to them, power matters, not the restoration of the decaying society.

To Bill Gates: Black People Are Not Weapons Of Mass Destruction

Starving-ChildHumanity in disgrace. Instead of help they give them contaminated vaccine.

By Joel Savage and Johan Van Dongen

There is time for everything. “To everything, turn, turn, turn. There is a season, turn, turn, turn. And a time to every purpose under heaven. A time to be born, a time to die. A time to plant, a time to reap. A time to kill, a time to heal. A time to laugh, a time to weep.” This is the lyrics of one of my favorite songs by The Byrds.

From generation to generation the African continent has been a target to Europe and America, not only to steal but to destroy. The humbleness of an Africa is taken as stupidity and our trust has been abused. Apart from thousands of medical files and research revealing Aids, Ebola, Lassa fever and other deadly diseases were medical crimes against Africa, medical records also proved Africans and African-Americans were used for experimentation.

Europe, America, Bill Gates, Rockefeller Foundation, Center for Diseases Control etc, under the canopy of the corrupt World Health Organisation, caused so much misery to Africa from time to time without ceasing. The pen is mightier than the sword, they say, thus; through the pen, we (Johan Van Dongen and Joel Savage) shall make it clear to those conflicting pain on the innocent African population that enough is enough.

Aids didn’t miraculously appear in Africa and Ebola didn’t as well occur naturally in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. They were done by people who eat bread, of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. They have no remorse and sympathy because Satan rules their hearts. If there is no African available to test your evil pills, try on your family.

That’s exactly what happened last month in France. There is no more Africans to be used for testing of evil drugs, so we forced them to use their own people. Don’t forget ‘The Pasteur Medical Institute’ in France, were responsible for scores of medical crimes against Africa.

French drug trial leaves one brain dead and five critically ill

One person is brain dead and five others are seriously ill after taking part in a drug trial for Portuguese pharmaceutical firm Bial at a clinic in northwest France.

The French health ministry said the six male patients aged 28 to 49 had been in good health until taking the oral medication. They started taking the drug on 7 January. One person started feeling ill on Sunday and the other five afterward. The brain dead volunteer was admitted to hospital in Rennes on Monday. Other patients went in on Wednesday and Thursday.

Pierre-Gilles Edan, head of the hospital’s neurology department, said one man was brain dead, three others were suffering a “handicap that could be irreversible” and another had neurological problems. The sixth volunteer had no symptoms but was being monitored.

This could have happened in Africa. Thank God, our messages are getting through. We are not going to rest on our oars. Our strong articles will drive all those ‘Crazy Bald heads’ from Africa to Europe and America to test their evil drugs on their own family.

Finally, Bill Gates, we know you are filthy rich. Since you don’t use your money to heal Africa, instead inflicting pain and destruction on the continent, we don’t need your help any longer. Our corrupt leaders can’t say this, because I can see their hands stretched to the direction of Europe and America, begging for food. Please since we don’t need your blood money in Africa, you can roll them up like a cigar and smoke it.

Africa Beware! God Can’t Find Any Sincere European Or American Leader

Obama 10Barack Obama: Smiling behind mischievous heart and hypocrisy

By Joel Savage and Johan Van Dongen

The common citizens of every country, depend on the government to provide them education, good drinking water and sanitation facilities, proper medical and health-care system etc, but the drastic effect of corruption, diseases, frustration and laziness in Africa, are some of the problems, which have affected the poor and helpless African leaders, to shift their attention on Europe and America for help, which often comes but at a very deadly cost.

There is no continent in history, which has suffered aggression, slavery, colonization, Apartheid, looting, depopulation, medical crimes etc, than the African continent. The question many ask, while others don’t bother to know is: Why Africa?

This reminds me of a story in the Bible about two men in one city; one was rich, and the other poor. The rich man had great flocks of sheep and herds of cattle;  but the poor man had only one little lamb that he had bought. It grew up in his home with his children, and drank out of his cup, and lay upon his lap, and was like a little daughter to him.

One day a visitor came to the rich man’s house to dinner. He did not take one of his own sheep to kill for his guest. He robbed the poor man of his lamb, and killed it, and cooked it for a meal with his friend. This is exactly the same situation Africa stand. They look upon Europe and Europe as their redeemer, saviour or faithful masters, without knowing that their only interest is to destroy the continent.

Most of the ethnic conflicts, tribal wars, political unrest and medical crimes, including Aids, Ebola, Lassa fever, Zika virus were caused by Europe and America. Anyone who doubts what I am talking about, should read the book, “The Shadow Of The Sun” by the Polish writer, author and journalist, Ryszard Kapuściński.

Africans, like African-Americans were very happy indeed, following the inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th United States President. The African-American or the Black man needs to be happy, because the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has become a reality. But what African-Americans failed to realize is, Obama as a Black president hasn’t any magic wand to make life better for them.

Like every American president, Barack Obama swore the oath: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

This oath confirms that Obama is not going to tell Africa, African-Americans or Africans in the Diaspora that Aids, Ebola, Lassa Fever, Zika virus etc, were medical crimes tried on the Black man as bio-warfare product or bio-weapons. Obama is not going to tell Black Americans that they were used unwilling and unwitting for experimental at the hands of the America’s medical establishment.

Again do African-Americans expect Obama to tell them that the American government collaborated with scientists and stole Henrietta Lacks’ cells without her knowledge in 1951, and became one of the most important tools in medicine, vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloning, gene mapping?

There is no American president in the past or present who are sincere, faithful and truthful. Like ex-president Bill Clinton denying of sleeping with Monica Lewinsky, then confessed later that he did, all American leaders are liars and those coming after Obama will put on the same perfume of lies.

Obama came to office as a real handsome man, because of hypocrisy, shady deals, cover up of crimes, including the killing of Dr. Jeffrey Bradstreet, for opposing vaccine against autism, he now looks fragile and gaunt like one of Africa’s Aids patients.

Whatever evil a man sows, same he shall reap, but sometimes I feel very sorry for the normal and common American citizens, who have to pass through difficulties, because the government’s bad policies and the evil seed the past and present leaders have sown.
